The Ylaya Camp 8 Back Trails: A Relaxed Walk Through Minglanilla’s Countryside

Not every hike needs a dramatic summit to be enjoyable.

Sometimes a quiet walk through rolling farmland is enough.

The back trails of Ylaya in Camp 8 offer exactly that kind of experience. Rather than chasing a viewpoint or a waterfall, the route follows gentle countryside trails through farmland before reaching its highest point and returning along the same path. It’s the sort of hike that encourages you to slow down and simply enjoy being outdoors.

The climb begins gradually from the trailhead.

Unlike steeper mountain hikes that demand your attention from the very first step, the elevation here builds slowly over the course of the route. The effort feels steady rather than strenuous, making it easy to settle into a comfortable walking pace.

Navigation is one of the trail’s biggest strengths.

The paths are easy to follow, and there are very few moments where the route feels uncertain. Since these are active farmland trails, it’s common to pass through areas used regularly by local residents, giving the hike a reassuring sense that you’re never too far from people despite being surrounded by countryside.

As the trail gains elevation, the scenery gradually begins to open up.

Much of the route is exposed after the early shaded sections, with rolling hills stretching across the surrounding landscape. On sunny mornings, the lack of shade becomes more noticeable, making regular water breaks worthwhile even though the hike itself isn’t particularly demanding.

The return follows the same route back toward the trailhead.

Without a long or punishing descent, the hike finishes much the same way it begins—at a relaxed, comfortable pace. The moderate elevation gain is spread evenly across the route, so there are no sections that feel especially intimidating for beginners.

What I enjoyed most about this hike was how uncomplicated it felt.

There was no pressure to reach a famous destination or overcome a difficult climb. It was simply an enjoyable walk through farmland and quiet countryside, with enough elevation to remind you that you’re hiking without ever becoming physically overwhelming.

Overall, the Ylaya Camp 8 Back Trails are an easy hike that I would happily recommend to beginners or anyone looking for a short mountain walk close to the city. The navigation is straightforward, the terrain is forgiving, and the gradual climb provides just enough challenge to make the hike feel rewarding.

Sometimes the best trails aren’t the ones with famous landmarks. Sometimes they’re simply the ones that make for a pleasant morning outdoors.
